Abstract
Ela Bhatt, founder of the Self-Employed Women's Association, an organisation set up in 1972 to help homebased producers to organise for their welfare and selfrespect, talks to Rajesh Agrawal about her mission to bring visibility and self reliance to women workers and the unorganised sector. A staunch Gandhian, Ela Bhatt believes, and has demonstrated, that the key to the empowerment of the poor lies in organisation and in providing access to resources.
