The changing context of governance and leadership in public sector banks
Editors
Khandelwal, Anil K
Description
The Indian financial system, which is dominated by the banking system, is a curious amalgam of multiple types of players, and we have listed the banking sector in Table 1.1 to provide a flavour of the range of institutions operating within this space. We locate the public sector banks (PSBs) in this larger rubric in order to clearly understand what ails them. It is not that all PSBs perform badly, neither is it that a given PSB performs very well consistently for a reasonable period of time.
