Negotiating globalization: Trade unions and labour in contemporary India
Description
India has been pursuing policies of globalization for the past 25 years. Over this quarter century, the country has experienced significant changes in both its economy and politics. On the economic front, there has been a substantial increase in GDP growth rates. However, progress in human development indicators has been relatively slow, with India being overtaken by some of its neighbors in South Asia. In the ongoing discourse on development versus economic growth, what remains lacking is a scholarly examination of the challenges faced by the working population in the country.
