The greenhouse gas mystery: drivers of carbon emission in supply networks

Description

We theorize how greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from supply networks are influenced by the structural characteristics of those networks. Using data on 222 multi-tier supply networks, we find that the density of a focal firm’s supply network is associated with lower GHG emissions. In contrast, higher levels of betweenness centralization and modularity within the network are associated with increased GHG emissions.
