Abstract
DR Pendse, “Dada” to his friends, is the Chief Consulting Economist for the Industrial Development Bank of India, the largest financial institution of the country. He sits on the board of directors of several companies. He has served as the Chief Economic Advisor to the Tata Group, the largest business conglomerate in the country. He has been a member of numerous government committees, both at the central and the state levels. He has authored three books besides several articles in national and international journals. As a speaker, he is in great demand both in India and overseas. His special areas of interest are Privatisation and Energy Policy. Since 1984, he has been a member of the Oxford Energy Policy Club. Pendse spoke to Venkatesh on a range of economic and business issues in the incisive and outspoken style for which he is well known.
