Abstract
An Attempt has been made in this paper to highlight the role of unincorporated enterprises in the Indian economy and the relevance of the economic reforms currently underway. The share of the unincorporated sector in national income, in manufacturing and in activities like transport, trade, construction, etc, is analysed. Savings and capital formation in the unincorporated sector are detailed. Finally, the implications of the recent economic reforms in the context of this sector, are discussed.
