Abstract

Development of formal, sophisticated organisation in various areas of a modern society whether political, economic, social or administrative is itself seen as synonymous with economic and social development. Over a period of time these organisations develop in such a way that, not merely on their own but in terms of their inter-relationships, they influence the overall growth of a society. Organisations whether in the public or private sector thus render themselves indispensable. Their linkages and inter-dependence, especially in the public system, need to be researched and understood since they seem to determine not only the quantity and quality of services rendered to the public but even the the direction of growth of the society. Such is the importance of the organisation that
the author believes that a “study of the dynamics that exist between such organisations, therefore, becomes desirable because it assists not only in the understanding of inter-agency system, structures, plans and attitudes that promote cooperation and a sense of unified purpose, but also in examining a fundamental question, namely, whether such agencies should be created in the form in which they are or whether a different logic should be used in their design.” Anil Chaturvedi’s main task is to explore (a) the bases of interaction amongst agencies; (b) their pattern of interaction; and (c) whether cooperation can be learnt by organisations.
