Abstract

The subject of the book and its introduction by the author touch upon a very crucial and much ignored aspect of leadership development. It deals with the inner core of the individual-what the author calls, quoting Jung, ‘complementary internal aspects of leadership’ and ‘shadows’ or the hidden parts of the inner self. This is in sharp contrast to much of the literature, where stress is laid solely on the development of outward behaviour and styles of a leader, in isolation from the character qualities. The book therefore arouses much interest and anticipation in the reader who hopes to discover ways of exploration and development of the inner self as a basis of effective leadership. However, what follows does not quite live up to the expectations aroused.
