Abstract
Trainer effectiveness is a critical dimension in successful training programmes. In recent times, a number of self-help and how-to books have tried to address some aspects of trainer effectiveness. The University Press series on ‘training essentials’ is an addition to the subject. The books in the series written by experts are intended to act as core readings for trainers who wish to obtain competency in the area of training. The current book differs from the other books in the series mainly in the emphasis. While most of the other books focus on the training function in the organisation (as evident from the titles-Creating a Training and Developing strategy; Designing Training; Developing Learning Materials), this book looks at strengthening trainer effectiveness by providing the relevant theoretical perspective to understand the practices adopted by trainers.
