Abstract
Performance evaluation is one area which has constantly remained under scrutiny. In the globalised environment. with competition becoming a way of life. it has become one of the prime concerns of organisations. Management experts have steadily engaged themselves in devising means and ways to evaluate the performance of organisations and individuals within organisations. New paradigms are emerging in the process of measurement. The process of evaluation today is more specific. explicit and quantified as against the largely prevalent confidential and judgmental one. It now aims at improvement rather than a one time assessment. Implied in it, therefore. is the feedback and sharing of information for improvement. Keeping in mind the specifics of management institutions. Aruna Mankidy has devised a model of faculty evaluation which aims at uniformity of structure while allowing for qualitative assessment by various evaluating sources.
