Abstract
The search for role models expresses not only the deep rooted desire to follow, but also the inherent desire to lead. The need for great heroes and transforming leaders like Gandhi and Mandela is felt much more strongly in the contemporary world. The model of leadership in existing literature has been used primarily to depict the process of managing rather than the process of transforming and leading. Asha Bhandarkar and Pritam Singh arrive at blueprints for leadership by studying the lives and work of transformational leaders.
