Abstract

The Indian experience with Outbound Programmes has clearly been a mixed one. With the initial euphoria passing over, managements are beginning to wonder if management development is getting to be more and more like branded potato chips - puffed up and pricey but the same old stuff inside. Indeed there is every possibility of the Outbound Programme going the way of all other bandwagons: into the clearance sale shelves of the management supermarket. Padaki and Venkatesh attempt to demystify Outbound Programmes (OP) and provide guidelines to organisations contemplating OP, on how to prepare for a worthwhile OP experience, what to look for and what pitfalls to avoid.
