Abstract
The first woman to join the Indian Police Service, Kiran Bedi has always made headlines, whether as Deputy Director, Narcotics Control Board or Inspector General, Prisons. The Police Medal for Gallantry which was awarded to her in 1979 and more recently, the Magsaysay Award for Government Service in 1994, seem to represent two ends of a spectrum but to her they are "a cumulative upsurge of goodwill through redressal". Currently Special Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Bedi shared with Management Review, her recipe to revolutionise the Indian administration-a sensitive individual approach to bring in transparency, accessibility and accountability.
