The EMPOV model

Abstract
Describes the EMPOV model, an intertemporal, intersectoral, linear programming, supply-side model, for a regional economy. Its objectives are the promotion of rapid employment promotion and the removal of poverty for a regional economy of a developing economy. It attempts to identify the earliest time within a 20 year time horizon when the objective of full employment can be achieved through providing a framework of the necessary resources allocation patterns for broad sectoral groups of the economy as a whole. Carries out an empirical analysis with the data of Bangalore District in Karnataka, India, and finds the earliest time when the entire labour force of the State would be fully employed is in 1988-89.-P.Creese (CDS)
