Abstract

R Seshasayee, Managing Director of Ashok Leyland, elaborates on how post-liberalisation spinoffs have affected the commercial vehicles industry. The unconventional modes of financing, the cyclical growth and the fluctuating market conditions have put the industry under pressure. Technology changes are being catalysed by enlightened emission laws. Seshasayee details the strategies adopted by Leyland to convert constraints into opportunities for growth and also introspects on his own role in the organisation.
