Abstract

The very word ‘technology’ in the context of the IT industry conjures up visions of radically different products that are made possible by esoteric and futuristic technology implemented through pure hardware or pure software or increasingly hardware/ software combinations. It is also clear that the evolutionary change to increasingly software intensive solutions is here to stay. In the context of this article, ‘technology companies’ will refer only to companies that are pure software or software / hardware plays that operate in the area of emerging technologies. Such companies will typically develop Intellectual Property( IP), license this IP, and use it to create products and solutions.
