Abstract
The Internet revolution is here to stay. The medium is dynamic, interactive, and global. Though it originated for use by defence and academic institutions to share information, it is now integrating the people of the world into a true global village. India's spirit of enterprise seems to have manifested itself through Information Technology (IT). Success stories of Indians in the Silicon Valley are legion, and they seem to be infecting people here in India. Young men with great visions, fantastic business plans and solid teamwork are setting up. businesses using the Net as the gateway to a global presence.
What are the legal issues which need to be addressed by a dotcom venture already established or to be established? Are such issues relevant or could they be ignored? Do they affect valuations for venture funding? At this juncture, it would do well to explore the legal implications of these questions. The main issues involved would concern:
• Domain name
• Copyright
• Internet patents
• Electronic contracts
• Privacy
• Security
