Abstract

The book under review is an attempt to assess the role of human resource management in both public and private sector corporations in coping with liberalisation in India. Through a survey of CEOs and senior professionals in 22 Indian corporations, Monappa and Engineer have assessed the impact of liberalisation and discussed the paradigms and techniques of human resource management for managing the change effectively. They also highlight the need for reframing the worker-management relationship or human resource policies by Indian companies in view of the new HR paradigms. Finally, the authors examine the impact of enabling technology on the organisations of tomorrow while also forecasting the role of human resource practitioners in the year 2020.
